Formed in 2001 on the ashes of the band Dream Child (2nd album on the US Metal label Metal Blade!) by Gérard Fois (lead vocals), Eternal Flight never ceased to propose a fine mixture of Melodic Power Metal with Progressive Metal hints.
In 2002, the 1st demo is published and permits the band to sign a deal italian label Cruz Del Sur Music who releases in october 2004 the album "Positive Rage" in Europe and America and Japan via a license with Spiritual Beast. Some nice reviews will follow, accompagnied with interviews on the medias that allow them to share stages with bands like Paragon and Nightmare.
2007 sees the release of a new album "Under the sign of will", on a new label, a French one this time, Pervade. The goal was to be represented better in their own country, but the band is soon dissapointed by the lack of involvment from the label besides the good reactions to the album. Luckily, the band also signed a deal with a label in the USA, Nightmare Records, that licenses the album in that territory and pemits to the band to cement and expand its fan base there! Again, the band take the road and also appears on some tvs.
End of 2011, Diminished Reality Elegies And MysterieS (D.R.E.A.M.S) is distributed in Europe and Japan by German label YesterRock and by various ones in North America. Due to a drastic change of line- up, drummer Ricardo Confessori (Angra, Shamman) agreed to shine on the album. There were also some prestigious guests on lead guitars: the americans Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra )Mark McGee (Vicious Rumors, Gregg Allman band, Luvplanet) and the swedish Rob Love Magnusson (Dynazty, Joe Lynn Turner).
After some concerts in 2012, the band embark on a real Eurpean tour of 3 weeks from May the 14 to June the 2nd of 2013 opening for US Metal cult band Circle II Circle and French band Nightmare! A rare event for a French band playing this style!
Despites these nice achievements and enough new songs on demo to make a full album, EF has to face a serious change of line-up in 2014. Gérard meets soon the talented Jérome Fischer, a guitar player hailing from Geneva , Switzerland.
EF reappears in 2015 with a new line-up! Thibaud Ducrot will take care of guitars along Jérome, Arnaud also from Geneva on bass to record 3 new songs with an international class guest on drums, John Macaluso who played in the past with Malmsteen, Ark, Labyrinth, Symphony X and Jennifer Batten to name a few!
These songs are released on social medias since early 2016 to make the fans patient and one of the songs, "Angels of violence" is also released as a video and earns a good success! The band reveal a new look regarding their outfit, wearing some flying customized suits in order to have an original visual identity onstage.
In august 2016, the band go in the studio to record the 4th album joined by Thibaud Pontet on drums. 9 songs are recorded at Gérard' studio, Morphoenix for the album named "Retrofuture".
In March 2017, french bass player Cédric Nguyen replaces Arnaud.
In August 2017, the band proudly sign a worldwide deal with German legendary label Massacre for the release of 4th album, "Retrofuture"!
"Retrofuture" contains 12 tracks written by Gérard (including the 3 previously recorded with Macaluso), that are a feast for every Metal fans who like catchy, melodic yet ambitious and proggy Power Metal. The band show their skills but without exagerating!
Vocalist and songwriter Gérard Fois said about the songs: "The goal was to be more direct but without losing originality, keeping it complex and melodic at the same time without having too much songs over 5 minutes. Most songs didn't need to be longer and it came like this in a pretty natural process."
A success when you see that only 3 songs on 12 are longer than that.
"Retrofuture" is an appropriate name for the album, musically it's like as if traditional Hard Rock and Metal bands like Judas Priest, Savatage and Deep Purple had team up with Dream Theater, Opeth and Nevermore to make a very unique mixture! Songs like "Retrofuture", "Nightmare King", "Succubus" or "Journey" are a good example of that.
Songs deal with the end of the world as we know it (Pandora's box), children at war (Angels of violence), human emotions (Journey, Poison, Labyrinth, Danger calling), love after death and Edgar Allan Poe (Routine of darkness), genetics and eternal life (Retrofuture), Sex (Succubus, Sinner), a demonic entity and Morphoenix (Nightmare King II), a digital god (Machine god).
Vocals with a big range, stellar musicianship, real, catchy yet interesting songs with a great sound are the main ingredients that make "Retrofuture" a mature album that should cause quite a stire within fans of the genre!
